The 2023 GreenTech Launchpad is a programme that supports innovative and sustainable solutions in the green sector, such as renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage, or carbon capture and storage. The programme provides participants with:

  • Tailor-made training and coaching to develop their business skills and knowledge
  • Mentorship from experts and peers in the green sector
  • Seed grant funding to test and validate their solutions
  • Networking opportunities with potential partners, customers, and investors
  • Access to a community of like-minded green entrepreneurs and innovators

The programme aims to foster entrepreneurship development and faster growth potential for young and women-led green initiatives in Africa, as well as to contribute to the continent’s economic and environmental welfare.

In order to join, you should fulfill the following requirements:

  • A clear vision and mission that aligns with the environmental and social needs of the continent and its people
  • A scalable and innovative solution that addresses a specific problem or gap in the green sector, such as renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage, or carbon capture and storage
  • A strong team with diverse skills and backgrounds, as well as a passion for sustainability and impact
  • A viable business model that can generate revenue and profit, as well as attract funding and investment from various sources
  • A network of partners, customers, and stakeholders that can provide support, feedback, and opportunities for growth and collaboration
  • A willingness to learn, adapt, and overcome challenges and risks in a dynamic and competitive market

Eligibility criteria

  • The applicant must be a legal entity established in an African country.
  • The applicant must propose an innovative clean tech project in one of the eligible categories: renewable energy, energy-intensive industries, energy storage, or carbon capture and storage.
  • The applicant must demonstrate the technical and financial feasibility of the project, as well as its potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create positive environmental and social impacts.
  • The applicant must provide a co-financing contribution of at least 40% of the total eligible costs of the project.
  • The applicant must comply with the ethical principles and applicable legislation of the EU and the host country.
